We were able to see so much but it in no way felt rushed. I especially enjoyed our time in Communa 13 - what a fascinating place. Oscar is so knowledgeable about the city and its culture and he is really personable and fun. Our guide Henry was fantastic—super friendly, easy to talk to, and full of great stories that made the history come alive. I really liked how he connected the past to the Medellín of today, which gave a much deeper understanding of the city. Very delicious! A delight of walking! We stayed around 4 hours in a “finca” of coffee listening about the different methods of making coffee and then we played to participate in the harvesting process. The owner's son is named Juan Pablo and is very friendly. We saw the machinery, walked through the farm (that 17 thousand feet of coffee) and at the end we bought a package of their brand. Simple and tasty! And the best part is that it's close to Medellin. I recommend! It's worth it! The guide Oscar is very nice, explains everything and was very attentive.Publicado enVerificada Fantastic Tour Where You Actually Make Chocolate! This was probably the best chocolate experience I’ve done, even after having traveled to Europe. Most chocolate tours I’ve been on talk you through the process of making chocolate, then you are presented with a bunch of chocolates that you can buy. This tour was different in that you start in the actual field, picking some of the cocoa pods from the tree. Sandra, who makes the chocolate, takes you through every step of the process and you do most of the work! You pick the pods, dig out the seed s (you can eat the pulp around the seed and it’s actually pretty good!), roast them, peel the cocoa beans with a Sandra and her mother, then decide how much sugar to add to your chocolate. You’ll have to do the tour to know the rest of the process! Yuly was my guide for the day and took me out to the farm and she was fantastic to converse with and exchange information about our countries. Henry was able to tell us the history of the neighborhood and how it transformed from being under the rule of a drug lord and one of the most dangerous places in the world tour tourist Haven the transformation was amazing.We also stopped by Pablo Escobar's safe house and where he was captured as it was on the wayHenry was a great tour guide very flexible which was great because this was the last stop on our nine day trip to Colombia and we were already tired.
